No. 21 Warner Pacific Men's Soccer Season Ends in Second Round of NAIA Tournament

MOBILE, Ala.| The no. 21-ranked Knights' historic season came to an end on Saturday with a 1-0 loss to the no. 4-ranked University of Mobile in the second round of the NAIA Tournament.

Taking place in Mobile, Warner Pacific faced their toughest competition yet, squaring off against the Rams on Saturday.

The Knights found themselves on the defensive throughout the first half. While the Warner defense was able to hold strong and keep Mobile scoreless, the Rams sent a constant barrage of shots towards the net. The consistent pressure took away opportunities from the Knights, as they only attempted one shot throughout the first half.

The only score of the game came in the second half for the Rams. After continuing with their aggressive offense, Mobile scored the lone goal of the game in the 69th minute. From there the Rams played more conservatively, not attempting another shot and instead ensuring the Knights couldn't get an equalizer.

The Knights offense responded by putting up shots and creating more scoring opportunities, however, they couldn't tie up the game and the Rams would end up getting the 1-0 victory.

The loss is the first of the year for the Knights and ends one of the greatest men's soccer seasons in school history.

The 2022 season saw the Knights go undefeated in conference play, win the regular season championship, and win the conference tournament to become CCC champions for the second year in a row.

On top of the team accomplishments, the men's soccer team also brought home numerous individual records and honors.

While Saturday's result wasn't what Knights fans were hoping for, the 2022 season will always be remembered in the history of Warner Pacific men's soccer. With plenty of young talent in the program, and the leadership of the back-to-back-to-back CCC Coach of the Year, Troy Ready, the future looks bright for the Knights.
