2022 CCC Women’s Cross Country Championship Preview

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The 2022 Cascade Collegiate Conference Women’s Cross Country Championship, presented by U.S. Bank, hits the dirt Friday at Clover Road Fields in Talent, Ore.
 
Southern Oregon University hosts the 5K, which is set to begin at 11 a.m. Pacific, with 10 teams competing for not only the CCC Championship, but also the conference’s automatic qualifier to the NAIA Cross Country Championship on Nov. 18 in Tallahassee, Fla. At-large bids will be announced on Nov. 10 by the NAIA office.
 
The top-15 runners will earn All-Cascade Collegiate Conference honors, with the possibility of qualifying for the NAIA Championship Meet as an at-large individual if their team doesn’t qualify.

Three teams enter the conference championship ranked, with No. 7-ranked College of Idaho leading the pack. The Coyotes were picked as the preseason favorite after winning their third-straight title last year, beating out the competition by almost 55 points. C of I has two wins under its belt and comes off a third-place finish at the Lewis & Clark Invite, finishing behind two NCAA Division I teams.
 
No. 11-ranked Southern Oregon University has won three of its four meets, including the CCC Preview to kick off the season. The Raiders come off a first-place finish at the NAIA Mid-States Classic, putting three runners in the top six.
 
No. 15-ranked Lewis-Clark State College have not really competed against CCC teams yet but come off a third-place finish at the NCAA Division II Pre-Nationals Meet. The Warriors were the top NAIA team, finishing behind NCAA DII’s 15th-ranked Chico State and a non-collegiate team.
 
Also competing for the championship are Bushnell University, Corban University, Eastern Oregon University, Multnomah University, Northwest University, Oregon Tech and Walla Walla University.
