TALENT
– A familiar cast kept the No. 7-ranked College of Idaho women’s cross country team on top of the Cascade Conference on Friday morning in the CCC Championships presented by U.S. Bank.

The Yotes rolled to their fourth title in a row and ninth all-time, and Ellyse Tingelstad defended her individual championship at Colver Road Fields. Tingelstad finished the 5,000-meter course in 18 minutes 27.9 seconds, teammate Sage Martin (18:28.9) was her runner-up for the second consecutive season, and C of I’s Abbey Shirts (18:40.4) and Kahea Figeuira (18:59.2) joined them as repeat All-CCC performers while occupying the third and fourth spots on the leaderboard.

The Yotes amassed just 17 points – the lowest score for a winning team since 2015 – and added two more All-CCC runners in eighth-place Makena Houston (19:16.5) and 11th-place Molly Connor (19:18.5). Their first-year leader, Dominic Bolin, was voted the CCC Women’s Coach of the Year.

Southern Oregon, ranked No. 11, captured second place for its fourth straight appearance, excluding the 2020 campaign that the Raiders sat out. The Raiders totaled 49 points, comfortably ahead of third-place Lewis-Clark State (Idaho)’s 83, and were led by seventh-place Lauren Forster (19:11.3) and ninth-place Alejandra Lopez (19:17.6). SOU’s Kayla Clayton (19:17.6) repeated as an all-conference runner in 10th place, and Sydnee Kizziar (19:29.4) earned All-CCC status for the third time in 12th place.

No. 21-ranked LCSC got a fifth-place finish from Geraldin Correa (19:07.5) – beating Multnomah’s sixth-place Shilo Mounts by one second – and a 13th-place showing from Brooklyn Shell (19:37.0).

Kira Morrow (19:39.8) took 14th individually to lead Oregon Tech to fourth in the team standings with 136 points.

College of Idaho earned an automatic berth in the NAIA Championships, which are set for Nov. 18 in Tallahassee, Fla. The rest of the field, including at-large bids, will be announced next week.
