SOU tops Cal Maritime for 4th straight win

VALLEJO, Calif. – Cole McAninch and Atmar Mundu led a 20-1 first-half surge, flipping the momentum and ultimately the game in the Southern Oregon's favor during an 89-85 non-conference win over Cal Maritime on Tuesday at PEAC Gym.

The Raiders (7-4 overall) played from behind early and trailed 32-24 when the run began 14 minutes into the contest. Mundu sunk three 3-pointers and scored 11 points over the rest of the half on his way to a game-high 20, while McAninch hit a couple 3s and added a three-point play to score 12 in the frame.

Brett Hollins also gave the Raiders a needed lift with 10 points. He and McAninch came off the bench to shoot 8-of-9 combined over the opening 20 minutes.

SOU padded its 44-38 halftime edge in the second, going up by as many as 15. Tez Allen and Will Graves scored 13 apiece in the half, and Graves finished with 17. Allen added six rebounds, four assists and a steal.

The Raiders, winners of four straight, shot 53 percent as a team and made 11 3-pointers, outscoring the Keelhaulers (3-6) by 27 points from long range. They've scored 80-plus points in nine of 11 outings and shot better than 50 percent in five of those.

They continued to get stellar post play from Dominic McGarvey, who blocked four shots, and Josh Meyer, who recorded six points, six rebounds and five assists.

Adderly Braxton paced the Keelhaulers with 17 points.

The Raiders will bring a four-game winning streak to Portland on Dec. 30-31, when they'll resume Cascade Conference play at Multnomah and Warner Pacific.
