Under Armour Co-Teams of the Week Announced

CORVALLIS, Ore. – After both Eastern Oregon University and Corban University volleyball teams made history last week, the two teams were named Under Armour Co-Teams of the Week for Nov. 28-Dec. 4, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.

Both the No. 1-ranked Mounties and No. 4-ranked Warriors advanced to the NAIA National Championship Semifinals for the first time in both program histories after dominating their pool play and sweeping their quarterfinal opponents.

EOU, which is on a 15-match winning streak, won both of its pool play matches, including a three-set sweeps over No. 20-ranked Cornerstone University (Mich.) before downing No. 21-ranked Marian University (Ind.) in three sets in the quarterfinals.

As a team, the Mounties averaged 12.7 kills and 3.25 blocks per set over the three matches. Cambree Scott led EOU with 20 blocks over the three matches, while Kara Clayton and Preslee Jensen each averaged 2.6 kills per set.

Corban swept through its pool with straight-set victories over (RV) Bethel University and No. 11-ranked Taylor University, before beating No. 13-ranked Park University in three sets in the quarterfinals.

The Warriors hit at a .216 clip over the three matches, while holding their opponents to a .117 attack percentage. Corban averages 14.22 kills and 3.28 blocks per set. Rylee Troutman led the Warrior attack with 4.8 kills per set in pool play, while Ally Schmidt and Allyson Reid have been a wall at the net, totaling 14 and 13 blocks, respectively.

Unfortunately, the two teams face off in the NAIA National Tournament Semifinals on Monday so only one CCC team will advance to play for a national championship. The game is set for 3 p.m. Pacific at Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
