CORVALLIS, Ore. – February 1 starts the beginning of Black History Month. The Cascade Collegiate Conference celebrates "Living the Legacy" with the NAIA and will roll out features celebrating "Living the Legacy" in the CCC.
A note from NAIA President, Jim Carr:
Dear NAIA,
Today we start our Black History Month "Living the Legacy". I am excited about a month of celebration and an opportunity to share the NAIA's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) efforts. With more than 77,000 students supported by thousands of caring coaches and administrators, we can be a force for people of color in the fight against inequality and injustice.
The NAIA has long been a leader in positive change regarding social issues. As an athletic organization that was the first to offer opportunities to women and people of color, we are proud of our strong history of advocacy.
Each day this month we will highlight examples of black excellence at both the association level, as well as those at our member institutions, including our 22 HBCUs. |
|
While we are excited to celebrate Black History Month, these efforts will extend far beyond just February. DEI is a major area of focus in the NAIA's 2021-24 Strategic Plan with significant work being done by the NAIA R.I.S.E. committee in partnership with the Minorities Opportunities in Athletics Association. |

We hope that you share this rich history and tag us at @PlayNAIA with your own institution's stories. We are #NAIATogether.
All the best,
Jim Carr, President and CEO |
