Women’s Basketball – Player
No. 22-ranked Lewis-Clark State College’s Callie Stevens was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this year.
Stevens, a senior guard from Puyallup, Wash., is the CCC’s leading scorer and improved her points per game average over the weekend to help lead the Warriors to two big victories. She averaged 28.5 points between the two contests, with 27 in the win over College of Idaho, and a career-high 30 points in the biggest win of the season against Eastern Oregon University, which previously held the top spot by itself in the conference standings. Stevens shot an efficient 63.6-percent from the floor and 42.9-percent from three-point range. She went 9-for-10 from the free throw line and drained six treys. Stevens also dished out nine assists and had three steals. Saturday's victory put LC State in a tie for first in the CCC and earned head coach Brian Orr his 500th-career win.
Men’s Basketball – Player
Multnomah University’s Tyrese Taylor was named the WVT Laboratory Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Taylor, a sophomore center from Copperas Cove, Texas, was critical in Multnomah's back-to-back wins against Northwest University and The Evergreen State College. In the Lions’ overtime win against Northwest, Taylor put up solid numbers on both sides of the ball, finishing with 32 points and 13 rebounds. During overtime, he scored the game-winning shot to lead the Lions to victory. The next day he added 22 points and 14 rebounds against the Geoducks.
Men’s Wrestling – Wrestler
University of Providence’s Jordan Komac was named the WVT Laboratory Men’s Wrestler of the Week.
Komac, a sophomore 165-pounder from Great Falls, Mont., went 3-0 this weekend, including two wins over ranked opponents. The 16
th-ranked grappler was a big reason why the Argos won all three of their duals on the weekend and now boasts a 14-5 overall record.
Women’s Wrestling – Wrestler
No. 12-ranked University of Providence’s Ivy Navarro was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Wrestler of the Week.
Navarro, a senior 101-pounder from Lahaina, Hawaii, won her weight class at the Grand View Open, defeating multiple Top 10 opponents en route to the first-place finish. She posted three decisions, one technical fall and one pin (28 seconds) at the event. Navarro has remained the top-ranked 101-lb. wrestler in the nation the entire season.
Women’s Indoor Track & Field – Track Athlete
Lewis-Clark State College’s Emily Adams was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Adams, a senior from Waitsburg, Wash., earned a provisional time in the 3000m run at the WSU Open on Saturday. The fifth-year senior's time of 10 minutes, 24.89 seconds put her in the top half of the field filled with NCAA Division I competition.
Women’s Indoor Track & Field – Field Athlete
Southern Oregon University’s Abi Stevens was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Stevens, a freshman from West Allis, Wis., won the pentathlon with the NAIA's sixth-best mark this season with 3,387 points (“B” mark). In the process, she also notched the NAIA's top high jump mark, clearing five feet, 6 1/2 inches for an automatic qualifying mark.
Men’s Indoor Track & Field – Track Athlete
Lewis-Clark State College’s Clayton VanDyke was named the WVT Laboratory Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for the third time this season.
VanDyke, a senior from Vernal, Utah, continued to rewrite the LC State record books with a phenomenal showing in the 800m on Friday. He bested his own record in the event by nearly two seconds with a time of 1:50.53, currently the fastest time in the NAIA this season. He also anchored the 4x400m relay team.
Men’s Indoor Track & Field – Field Athlete
Eastern Oregon University’s TJ Davis was named the WVT Laboratory Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Davis, a junior from Sandpoint, Idaho, had a superb weekend, placing second in the Heptathlon at the WSU Invite amongst a field of mostly NCAA DI competitors. He nearly secured the event win, missing it by just 35 points. Davis’ 5,248 points is now the top mark in the NAIA by nearly 100 points and ranks second in EOU program history. Over the two-day span, he had three event wins: the shot put (42-0 3/4), high jump (6-4), and the 1,000-meter run (2:45.76).
Baseball – Pitcher
Lewis-Clark State College’s Trent Sellers was named the WVT Laboratory Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Sellers, a junior right-handed pitcher from Kennewick, Wash., earned a win and a save this week to help the Warriors to a pair of victories. He came into a tight situation against No. 23 Benedictine Mesa and struck out two in one inning to earn the save. Sellers then started game one of a doubleheader with NCAA Division III Whitman on Sunday and earned the win after striking out seven in five innings. He did not allow a run or walk in either appearance and gave up just two hits.
Baseball – Player
Oregon Tech’s Dalton Daily was named the WVT Laboratory Baseball Player of the Week.
Daily, a senior infielder from Visalia, Calif., went 9-for-16 at the plate to help the Owls grab three wins on the week. He finished with eight RBIs, three home runs and one double, boasting a .563 batting average and 1.188 slugging percentage.
