CORVALLIS, Ore. – The 2021-22 Cascade Collegiate Conference Women’s Basketball postseason awards were announced Tuesday by the conference office.
After leading her team to the 2021-22 regular-season championship, No. 19-ranked Lewis-Clark State College’s Callie Stevens was named the WVT Laboratory Player of the Year. The Evergreen State College’s Sha’nece Garrett picked up the Newcomer of the Year, while Northwest University’s Livi Lindsey was named the Defensive Player of the Year. Shelby Blodgett of Oregon Tech grabbed Freshman of the Year honors and Southern Oregon University’s Carlotta Kloppenburg-Pruitt picked up the Coach of the Year award. Northwest University earned the Les Schwab Team Sportsmanship Award.
Stevens, a sophomore guard from Puyallup, Wash., leads the CCC and ranks 22
nd in the NAIA with a 19.2 points per game scoring average. She has scored in double figures in all but one game for the Warriors, including a career-high 30 points against Bushnell University. Stevens boasts a 47.4 field-goal percentage, which ranks 11
th in the conference, a 40.9 shooting percentage from the perimeter (third in the conference) and a 77.1-percentage from the charity stripe, good for 10
th in the CCC. Stevens averages 3.0 treys per game, which leads the conference and sits 10
th nationally.
Garrett, a sophomore from Sonora, Calif., transferred to the Geoducks after a year at Merced Community College. She finished the year averaging 15.6 points per game – which ranked fourth in the CCC – and 2.2 steals per game – sitting fourth in the conference.
Lindsey, a senior guard from Redding, Calif., knew how to rattle her opponents as she led the CCC in steals with 72 on the year, averaging 2.4 steals per game to rank 53
rd nationally. She also averaged 12.0 points per game (21
st in the CCC) on 44.6-percent shooting and grabbed 3.7 rebounds per game.
Blodgett, a freshman forward from Clatskanie, Ore., had a solid collegiate debut, leading the Owls to the CCC Women’s Basketball Tournament, presented by U.S. Bank quarterfinals. She finished the year averaging 13.0 points per game (15
th in the CCC) on 43.8-percent shooting. Blodgett also averaged 8.0 rebounds per game (9
th in the CCC) and had 16 blocks on the year.
In her first year at the helm for the Raiders, Kloppenburg-Pruitt led SOU to win the CCC Tournament Championship after being picked to finish fifth in the preseason poll. SOU, which is receiving votes in the final NAIA coaches’ poll, defeated LC State 56-34 to win the title and grab the CCC’s second automatic qualifier to the national tournament. Under Kloppenburg-Pruitt, the Raiders lead the CCC in scoring defense, holding opponents to 53.6 points per game, and sit second with a 14.4 average scoring margin.
