CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Southern Oregon University women’s basketball team has been named the Under Armour Team of the Week for Feb 28-Mar. 6 the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
The No. 2 seed in the CCC women’s basketball tournament, presented by U.S. Bank dismantled No. 1 seed and regular season champions Lewis-Clark State College 56-34 to claim the 2021-22 Tournament title.
The Raiders dominated the Warriors defensively holding LC to their lowest point output (34) in nearly 20 years. The win also snapped LC’s 19-game home winning streak.
SOU was led by Brianna Phiakhamngon who scored 21 points with five 3-pointers and Kami Walk with 20 points and nine rebounds to carry the offensive load for the Raiders, who celebrated their first CCC Tournament championship since 2016 and seventh overall. Dominique Harding dominated the glass with 13 boards and distributed seven assists.
Southern (28-5, 18-4 CCC) will next be in action as they begin their quest for a National Championship participating in an NAIA Opening Round March 11-12. The Raiders will take on Georgetown (KY) in Santa Clarita, California.
