CORVALLIS, Ore. – The UBC Thunderbird women’s golf team was named the Under Armour Team of the Week for April 3-10, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
Third-ranked UBC picked up its eighth-straight tournament win at the Pacific Invitational, hosted at the Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club by Pacific University. Originally scheduled for two rounds, the first round was canceled after a severe windstorm blew through the golf course making it impossible to finish.
The Thunderbirds posted a 294 team score, beating out runner-up George Fox University – the No. 5-ranked team in NCAA Division III – by nine strokes. All five Thunderbirds shot under 80 to secure the victory.
Grace Bell led UBC, carding an even-par 71 to secure her second individual title of her career. Sonja Tang tied for second with a one-over 72, while Emily Li was one stroke behind (73). Elizabeth Labbe (78) and Una Chou (79) rounded out the scorers for UBC, all finishing in the top-10.
It will be a quick reset for the T-Birds who now shift their attention to the Corban Spring Invite – which features six CCC opponents – at Creekside Golf Club in Salem, Ore., from April 11-12.
