CCC Men’s Golf Championship Preview

CORVALLIS, Ore. Championship Program | The 2022 Cascade Collegiate Conference Men’s Golf Championship, presented by U.S. Bank, is ready to get underway Monday morning.

The winner of the tournament will get the CCC’s automatic qualifier to the NAIA National Tournament, while the regular-season conference championship will be determined by the best win/loss record of the regular season tournaments – including the conference tournament. In case of a tie, co-conference champions will be declared.

All-Conference honors will be awarded based on the stroke average over a minimum of three CCC tournaments, one of which must be the championship, with the top seven earning the honors.

There is a tight race for the top-spot in the conference standings heading into the final tournament of the season. No. 12-ranked Lewis-Clark State College holds a narrow advantage over No. 6-ranked UBC. The Warriors come off a win at the Corban Spring Invite, which featured eight of the CCC’s teams including the Thunderbirds, and look to carry that momentum to win their first CCC title.

Last year’s tournament champion, Multnomah University, looks to defend its crown, while Oregon Tech, Bushnell University, College of Idaho, Walla Walla University and Corban University are also in the mix.

The individual race could be tight as 12 golfers boast a scoring average under 75 heading into the tournament. UBC’s Ethan De Graaf currently sits in the top spot, averaging a 71.7. LC State’s Devon Caruso and Kristof Panke are right on his tail, carding 72.0 and 72.4 averages, respectively. De Graaf and Panke are paired together for the tournament, which could be the grouping to keep an eye on.

Oregon Tech hosts the two-day tournament at Eagle Point Golf Course in Eagle Point, Ore., set to start at 9 a.m. Pacific on Monday. The first day features two rounds and concludes with the third and final round on Tuesday.
