FOREST GROVE, OR – The UBC Thunderbirds kicked off their week at the Pacific Invitational hosted at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club with standout performances in the two-day tournament. The women continued to dominate the circuit as they captured their eighth straight tournament of the season, while the men were edged by just six shots to finished in second place.
All five women shot under 80, led by Grace Bell who posted a tournament-best 71. Sonja Tang (72) and Emily Li (73) were not far behind, and the complete team performance was rounded out by Elizabeth Labbe (78) and Una Chou (79) to take first place by a margin of nine shots.
On the men's side, a quality first round landed the group of Mackenzie Bickell, Michael Valk, John Paul Kahlert, Dylan MacDonald and Aidan Schumerin at the top of the leader board heading into the final day with a combined team round of 304.
The T-Birds then dialed in to improve on their impressive round one performance by four shots, posting an even 300 score on day two. Unfortunately for UBC, Pacific Lutheran's low-round 293 was enough to capture the tournament title. Bickell posted a 71 on the final day alongside Valk's 73, both improving on their strong opening day rounds.
It will be a quick reset for the T-Birds who now shift their attention to the Corban Spring Invite at Creekside Golf Club in Salem, Oregon from April 11-12
