'Birds finish 8th at NAIA Championship

SILVIS, ILL –The final round of the NAIA Men's Golf Championship at TPC Deere Run saw the UBC Thunderbirds unable to climb the leader board and sustain the same kind of momentum they began their tournament with as the 'Birds closed with a round of 296 (+12) to cement their eighth-place finish and tournament total +25 (283-285-299-296).
 
Keiser University and Dalton State battled it out Friday morning as the two programs went back and forth but it was Keiser who earned the right to be named NAIA Champion after their steady and impressive complete team performance of -6 (280-282-281-287).
 
Russell Howlett and Aidan Schumer both produced rounds of 73 (+2) Friday morning in an attempt to keep their group in the hunt. Howlett scored two birdies and four pars to finish his tournament at +11 (72-75-75-73). while Schumer's final round saw one birdie and three bogeys to close his week at +1 (67-71-74-73).

Dylan Macdonald's final round of 74 (+3) scored two birdies alongside five bogeys as the first year closed his tournament at +14 (74-72-78-74).
 
Mackenzie Bickell's three birdies, five bogeys and one triple-bogey rounded out his final round of 76 (+5). Bickell showcased his skill throughout the week as he led the T-Birds with a low-score of +2 (70-67-73-76).

John Paul Kahlert jumped into the mix on the final day for the T-Birds and added one birdie, five bogeys and a double-bogey in his round of 77 (+6).
 
The 'Birds close their season in Bromont, Quebec where they will compete in the four-day Golf Canada Canadian University/College Championship beginning on Wednesday, June 1st.
