WVT Laboratory Players of the Week Announced

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The following six CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the WVT Laboratory Players of the Week for their performances during competition from May 2-8, 2022.
 
Softball – Pitcher
No. 4-ranked Oregon Tech’s Sarah Abramson was named the WVT Laboratory Softball Pitcher of the Week for the fifth time this year. 

Abramson, a senior pitcher from Milwaukie, Ore., led the Owls to their second-straight CCC Tournament Championship, presented by U.S. Bank. In three games she had 17 strikeouts, including eight in the championship game. Abramson finished with two shutouts, including an eight-inning, four-hit shutout in the championship game. 
 
Softball – Player
No. 20-ranked College of Idaho’s Haley Loffer was named the WVT Laboratory Softball Player of the Week for the second time this year.

Loffer, a senior infielder from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, had a hit and a stolen base in all six games of the conference tournament, helping the Coyotes make it to the championship game. She hit at a .550 clip with an .850 slugging percentage to go along with an .625 on-base percentage. She had three hits each in the wins over British Columbia (May 7, 9-1) and Eastern Oregon (May 8, 8-2), respectively. Loffer had nine runs scored, nine stolen bases to go along with 11 hits.
 
Women’s Outdoor Track & Field – Track Athlete
UBC’s Glynis Sim was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Sim, a freshman from Salmon Arm, B.C., Canada, had a new personal-best time in the 5k at the Portland Twilight. She won the event in 15 minutes, 39.23 seconds, which now stands as the top time in the NAIA by 43 seconds. 

Women’s Outdoor Track & Field – Field Athlete
Eastern Oregon University’s Maggie Ledbetter was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.

Ledbetter, a senior from Cove, Ore., won the shot put and the discus (41.93 meters) at the Linfield Open, along with a second-place finish in the hammer (49.02 meters). Her 13.77-meter throw was an NAIA automatic mark. 

Men’s Outdoor Track & Field – Track Athlete
UBC’s Tyler Dozzi was named the WVT Laboratory Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for the second time this year.

Dozzi, a junior from Terrace, B.C., Canada, set a new personal best at the Portland Twilight in the 5k with a time of 13:54.92. He now holds the No. 2 ranking at 5000 meters in the NAIA this season as well as the top conference time by 32 seconds.

Men’s Outdoor Track & Field – Field Athlete
UBC’s Rowan Hamilton was named the WVT Laboratory Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for the third time this year. 
 
Setting a new personal best throw, Hamilton also set a new Canadian U-23 record, eclipsing a mark that had stood since 2006. The junior from Chilliwack, B.C., Canada’s 75.98-meter throw is the 14th-best throw in the entire world so far this year and stands as the top mark in NAIA by 13 meters.
