CORVALLIS, Ore. – After winning its third-straight Cascade Collegiate Conference Women’s Cross Country Championship, presented by U.S. Bank, the College of Idaho was picked to win the crown once again, announced Wednesday by the conference office.
The Coyotes earned seven first-place votes to sit atop the poll with 96 points. Last year, C of I won its third-straight and eighth overall CCC championship by beating out the competition by almost 55 points. The Yotes went on to take fifth overall at the NAIA National Championship.
Southern Oregon University is right on C of I’s tail, however, grabbing three first-place votes and 92 overall points. The Raiders took second at the conference championship and 18
th overall at the national championship.
Lewis-Clark State College follows in third with 70 points, while Eastern Oregon University (56 points) and Northwest University (53 points) round out the top five. Just two points separate the next two teams as Oregon Tech sits in sixth with 52 points and Bushnell University follows in seventh with 51 points. Corban University, Multnomah University and Walla Walla University fill in spots eight through 10, respectively.
The 2022 CCC championship is slated for Nov. 4, hosted by SOU in Ashland, Ore., with the winner grabbing the conference’s automatic qualifier to the NAIA National Championship. Last year, the CCC sent five teams to the national championship meet.
