WVT Laboratory Players of the Week Announced

CORVALLIS, Ore. The following five CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the WVT Laboratory Players of the Week for their performances during competition from Aug. 15-21, 2022.
 
Women’s Soccer – Offensive Player
Northwest University’s Claire Jo Diede was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Diede, a senior midfielder from Everett, Wash., picked up right where the 2021 CCC Newcomer of the Year left off. She scored two goals and assisted the game-winner in Northwest's season-opening win against Fraser Valley.
 
Women’s Soccer – Defensive Player
Northwest University’s Hanne Breur was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Breur, a freshman goalkeeper from deBilt, Netherlands, got a shutout in her college debut with three hard-earned saves to lift the Eagles 3-0 over Fraser Valley. It was NU's first win in three games against Fraser Valley all-time.
 
Volleyball – Attacker
No. 7-ranked Corban University’s Avari Ridgway was named the WVT Laboratory Volleyball Attacker of the Week.
 
Ridgway, a senior outside hitter from McMinnville, Ore., led the Warriors to a 3-1 weekend in the College of Idaho Tournament, which included back-to-back double-doubles against two NAIA Top 25 teams on Friday (18 kills and 13 digs in sweep of No. 3 Bellevue, and 19 kills and 12 digs against No. 23 SAGU). She posted a .209 attacking percentage for the weekend, totaling 53 kills in four matches, and earned four service aces as well.
 
Volleyball – Defender
No. 7-ranked Corban University’s Kealani Ontai was named the WVT Laboratory Volleyball Defender of the Week.
 
Ontai, a senior defensive specialist/libero from Pearl City, Hawaii, held down the Corban backcourt for the entirety of the College of Idaho Tournament, where she hauled in 78 digs over the span of 15 sets to average 5.20 digs per set. She also managed to rank third on the team in assists this weekend, dealing to the Warrior attackers on 23 occasions.
 
Volleyball – Setter
No. 7-ranked Corban University’s Jadyn Mullen was named the WVT Laboratory Volleyball Setter of the Week.
 
Mullen, a senior setter from Puyallup, Wash., took to the helm of the Warrior offense for her fifth and final season this weekend, totaling 87 assists over 15 sets to average almost six assists per set. She also held her own in the backcourt, totaling 24 digs when called upon.
