WVT Laboratory Players of the Week Announced

CORVALLIS, Ore. The following seven CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the WVT Laboratory Players of the Week for their performances during competition from Aug. 22-28, 2022.
 
Women’s Soccer – Defensive Player
No. 4-ranked Oregon Tech’s Sydni Nakamura was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Nakamura, a junior goalkeeper from Mililani, Hawaii, recorded a career-high seven saves to pick up a clean sheet on the road at Simpson.
 
Women’s Soccer – Offensive Player
Carroll College’s Blair Stapleton was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Stapleton, a senior forward from Billings, Mont., scored two goals in a win over University of Providence on Thursday, making her second-straight two-goal performance. She took four shots, putting two on frame, both of which went in.
 
Men’s Soccer – Offensive Player
Corban University’s Andres Labate was named the WVT Laboratory Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Labate, a sophomore midfield/forward from Salem, Ore., took the fate of the Corban Jamboree into his own hands this past week, scoring both game-winning goals in Corban's 3-0 blowout win over No. 25-ranked Northwestern College and the Warriors’ 1-0 win over Concordia University (Neb.). His two goals place third in the conference in total scores, with his two game-winners leading all CCC student-athletes.
 
Men’s Soccer – Defensive Player
Corban University’s Quinn McCallion was named the WVT Laboratory Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
 
McCallion, a senior goalkeeper from Wallingford, UK, posted two shutouts over the weekend, including one against a ranked squad. He made one key save to keep the clean sheet against No. 25-ranked Northwestern College.
 
 
Volleyball – Attacker
No. 7-ranked Corban University’s Rylee Troutman was named the WVT Laboratory Volleyball Attacker of the Week.
 
Troutman, a sophomore outside hitter from Powell Butte, Ore., could not be stopped on the offensive side of the ball for the Warriors' 4-0 weekend, posting three-straight double-doubles against three NAIA ranked opponents (#8 Northwestern, #24 Dordt, (RV) Westmont). Her performance was highlighted by her 22-kill and 15-dig performance against the No. 8 Red Raiders. She led the team in kills (3.81 kills per set) and trailed only the backcourt specialists in digs (3.00 digs per set) at the HIU Summer Slam.
 
Volleyball – Defender
Northwest University’s Kelsey Moore was named the WVT Laboratory Volleyball Defender of the Week.
 
Moore, a junior defensive specialist/libero from Edmonds, Wash., helped keep the Eagles in each match defensively. She finished the week averaging 7.41 digs per set with two 35-plus dig matches. Moore also had six aces and eight assists.
 
Volleyball – Setter
No. 7-ranked Corban University’s Jadyn Mullen was named the WVT Laboratory Volleyball Setter of the Week for the second week in a row.
 
Mullen, a senior setter from Puyallup, Wash., led the Warrior offense to a perfect 4-0 weekend over three-straight NAIA Top 25 teams, leaping to the occasion against (RV) Westmont College to record her second double-double of the season with a season-high 27 assists and 11 digs. She logged 86 assists over 16 sets played for a 5.38 assist per set ratio, and perfectly placed nine service aces.
