CORVALLIS, Ore. – Coming off a record-setting season, Corban University was picked as the unanimous choice to win the 2022 Cascade Collegiate Conference championship, announced Thursday by the conference office.
The Warriors picked up all 12 first-place votes from the conference’s volleyball head coaches to top the preseason poll, totaling 144 points. Corban comes off a hot year where it swept the regular-season and tournament CCC championships and set numerous school records. The Warriors finished the year 30-3 with their sixth-straight NAIA postseason appearance, most wins in a season since 1997, new winning streak with 19-straight matches, highest-ever NAIA Top-25 ranking (No. 5) and most conference wins in CCC history (20).
The following four spots reflect the final 2021 CCC standings, with Eastern Oregon University grabbing the No. 2 spot with 127 points. The Mounties finished the campaign with a 26-9 overall, 19-3 CCC record. Oregon Tech sits in third with 121 points, while Bushnell University follows in fourth with 102 points. Northwest University rounds out the top-five with 85 points.
After finishing the conference season tied each with an 11-11 CCC mark, only one point separates the College of Idaho and Lewis-Clark State College. The Warriors might have earned the final spot in the CCC Championship Tournament, presented by U.S. Bank, but the Coyotes are edging out their fellow Idahoans on the preseason poll.
Southern Oregon University grabbed 68 points to sit in the No. 8 spot, followed by The Evergreen State College with 63 points. Multnomah University (32 points), Warner Pacific University (28 points), and Walla Walla University (13 points) fill in the final three spots of the poll.
The CCC conference season begins this month, starting Aug. 26, with the CCC tournament slated to start on Nov. 11 and will be hosted by the 2022 regular season champion.
