PORTLAND, Ore.| Alain Murhula scored a hat trick to help elevate the Knights to a 5-0 victory over Cal State Maritime on Saturday.
A recurring theme for Warner Pacific men’s soccer, the Knights came out aggressive to open the game. Despite putting constant pressure on the Cal Maritime goalkeeper, Warner didn’t find the back of the net until the 35
th minute of the game when Andrew Martinez got the Knights on the board. The game would remain 1-0 going into the half.
Persistence on offense paid off for the Knights in the second half. In the 60
th minute, Andrew Martinez struck for his 9
th goal of the season.
With the Knights up 2-0 in the second half, Senior Alain Murhula took over; scoring three times in just seven minutes to put the game out of reach for Cal Maritime.
It’s difficult to overstate how aggressive the Knights were all game, attempting a whopping 47 shots, 29 of which were on goal.
With the victory the Knights are now 5-0. Men’s soccer is back in action Sept. 16 when they travel to take on College of Idaho.
