CORVALLIS, Ore. The following 11 CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the rize Laboratory Players of the Week for their performances during competition from Sept. 12-18, 2022.
 
Women’s Soccer – Offensive Player
Carroll College’s Blair Stapleton was named the rize Laboratory Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this year.
 
Stapleton, a senior forward from Billings, Mont., continued her extremely hot streak to start the season. She scored the equalizer, leading to a 1-1 tie with Corban University on Friday, followed by her fourth two-goal performance of the season in a 3-1 win over Bushnell University on Saturday
 
Women’s Soccer – Defensive Player
(RV) Northwest University’s Halley Marschall was named the rize Laboratory Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Marschall, a senior defender from Yakima, Wash., led the Eagle defense to two shutouts as Northwest opened conference action. With Marschall, the Eagles have not allowed a goal at home and have only allowed one goal this season.
 
Men’s Soccer – Offensive Player
Warner Pacific University’s Andrew Martinez was named the rize Laboratory Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the second week in a row.
 
Martinez, a freshman forward from Gresham, Ore., scored three goals in two games over the weekend. He scored one to help secure the Knights win 3-1 over College of Idaho and scored both of Warner Pacific's goals against Eastern Oregon to lead the Knights to a 2-1 victory.
 
Men’s Soccer – Defensive Player
No. 25-ranked Corban University’s Robin Terry was named the rize Laboratory Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Terry, a senior defender from Cape Town, South Africa, was integral in the Warriors' weekend sweep of Carroll College and Walla Walla University, leading a midfield and backline that allowed two more clean slates, which is the Warriors’ sixth and seventh shutouts of the season. Terry continues to lead a defense that is just one of three NAIA schools in the entire country that has yet to allow a goal this season. He also had a brace Sunday evening against the Wolves.
 
Volleyball – Attacker
No. 6-ranked Corban University’s Makayla Roginski was named the rize Laboratory Volleyball Attacker of the Week.
 
Roginski, a freshman opposite hitter from Greshman, Ore., put together an extremely efficient weekend at Oregon Tech and No. 17 Southern Oregon University, carrying the Warriors to a 2-0 road weekend. She posted back-to-back double-digit kill counts (11 at OIT and 17 at SOU), committing only five errors between both contests. Roginski’s 28 kills on 47 attacking attempts resulted in a .489 attacking percentage as well.
 
Volleyball – Defender
(RV) Bushnell University’s Payton Jones was named the rize Laboratory Volleyball Defender of the Week.
 
Jones, a senior middle blocker from Yakima, Wash., was dominant at the net in both matches, and tied Bushnell single-match records against OIT for both block assists and total blocks. She also moved into second place on the Beacon career list for both categories.
 
Volleyball – Setter
The College of Idaho’s Analise Hitchcock was named the rize Laboratory Volleyball Setter of the Week.
 
Hitchcock, a sophomore setter from Meridian, Idaho, averaged 10 assists per set in the Coyotes’ three matches last week. She had 37 in the straight set win over Multnomah University to go along with two service aces and a pair of kills. Hitchcock also had 35 assists in the four-set loss to Eastern Oregon and 28 assists in the three-set win over Warner Pacific. She also provided support on the defensive side with 2.30 digs per set.
 
Women’s Cross Country – Runner
No. 7-ranked College of Idaho’s Ellyse Tingelstad was named the rize Laboratory Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.
 
Tingelstad, a senior from Joseph, Ore., led the Coyotes to a first-place finish at the EOU Invitational. She finished the 4K event in 14 minutes, 18.74 seconds to take first out of 53 runners.
 
Men’s Cross Country – Runner
No. 13-ranked Eastern Oregon University’s Justin Ash was named the rize Laboratory Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for the second week in a row.
 
Ash, a sophomore from Baker City, Ore., won his second race in a row in another dominant performance, finishing the 6K EOU Invitational in 18:24.73. His time was over 21 seconds ahead of the runner-up competitor.
 
Women’s Golf – Golfer
No. 1-ranked UBC’s Sonja Tang was named the rize Laboratory Women’s Golfer of the Week.
 
Tang, a sophomore from Victoria, B.C., Canada, led the Thunderbirds to win the first CCC event of the season, setting a new conference team tournament record in the process with a 574. She finished two-under par, one of just two golfers to finish the 36-hole tournament in the red, posting a 142 (69-73).
 
Men’s Golf – Golfer
No. 8-ranked UBC’s Mackenzie Bickell was named the rize Laboratory Men’s Golfer of the Week.
 
Bickell, a sophomore from Richmond, B.C., Canada, was one of just three golfers to finish under par in the first CCC event of the year. He saved his best for last with a final round, four-under 68, helping lead the Thunderbirds to the tournament win with a 12-stroke margin of victory. Bickell finished with a 214 (75-71-68) to take second in the tournament behind an NCAA Division II opponent.
