FERNDALE – Northwest had a respectable outing at the Bill Roe Classic with the men's team finishing seventh on Saturday.
"Solid day for our group and there were a lot of really good things that happened," said NU Head Coach
Mark Mandi. "We raced almost our complete squad on both the men's and women's side and that provided a lot of energy, excitement, and encouragement, which I love seeing. We had seven students compete in their first-ever collegiate cross country race which is always something to celebrate. As we head into next week, we're excited for the opportunity to race other conference teams to see how we stack up."
The Northwest men scored 167 for seventh place in a field that included runners from 15 college and running clubs. The women's team had four entries and did not receive a team score.
Micah Murphy led the Eagles on the eight-kilometer course at 25:59 with Cameron Nielsen in 39th at 26:10. Dawson Andrews was 43rd at 26:25, Brennan Koontz finished 70th in his college debut at 27:31, and Craig Lambert rounded out the scoring five with a 27:40 and 73rd place.
