Warrior Women’s Golf Finishes Individual Competition at Coastal Collegiate Classic

Gleneden Beach, Ore. – The Corban University Women's Golf team completed their first tournament of the 2022-23 season, with three members of the squad finishing the three-round Coastal Collegiate Classic.

RESULTS

"I was very proud of how our three ladies played and represented Christ and Corban these past 3 days on a tough course," Corban Head Coach Charlie Marshall shared on his team's performance.

"It was a great experience for Abby to play in her very first collegiate golf tournament, and I'm proud of all of them on how they kept a great spirit about themselves. It was a great warm up in preparing us for our first upcoming conference match," Marshall concluded.

The Coastal Collegiate Classic ended with the Warriors of Lewis-Clark State College and No. 23 Owls of Oregon Tech squaring off in a head-to-head race to the finish line, with LC State edging the Owls (+154) to (+175). Despite losing the team title, OIT's Payton Canon took home 1st place overall with a (+23) final score, ten strokes better than the next finisher.

Since only three golfers laced up this weekend for the Warriors, they did not qualify for the team results, but that didn't stop the Corban representatives from placing high on the leaderboards.

Senior Kelly Dunn completed the best tournament for the Warriors, finishing 5th overall in a very competitive field with a (+42), highlighted by her 82-round of play on day two. Junior Kristin Senatra followed closely behind with a (+50), placing 7th place overall.

The new addition to the team, senior Abbygail Furrow, started off with a rough round of 108 on day one, but slowly improved day-by-day to improve upon her round results as each day was completed.

The Corban Women's Golf team bounces back quickly, as they head to Caldwell, Idaho this upcoming Sunday, September 11th, for The College of Idaho Invite at the Timberstone Golf Course.
