CORVALLIS, Ore. – For the second time this season, No. 1 College of Idaho men’s basketball team was named the Under Armour Team of the Week for Jan. 9-15, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
After claiming the top spot on the NAIA Coaches’ Poll this week, the Coyotes went on to compete in a tough weekend battle on the road in more conference play. Although it wasn’t easy, the team worked together like they have all season to secure their undefeated conference record and continue a 16-game win streak.
On Friday, a strong second-half performance carried the team to their 15th straight win, taking down Bushnell, 81-65. Drew Wyman started hot, scoring the first six points of the game on two three-point shots. Wyman went on to lead the team with 17 points and all the baskets were spread out as the Coyotes executed selfless play to defeat the Beacons.
On Saturday, the College of Idaho men’s basketball team displayed a standout offensive in a 94-78 win over (RV) Corban University. The team knew their recent ranking would bring tougher competition, so they left everything on the court. Three Coyotes scored in the double-digit, being led by Johnny Radford, who reached a career-high 28 points off the bench.
This weekend brought their conference record to 11-0. The College of Idaho men's basketball team turned around quickly after losing their only game at the start of the season and don’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon. The Coyotes will head to Klamath Falls for a rematch with the Oregon Tech Owls next Friday.
