NAIA Cross Country Runners of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – No. 3 College of Idaho’s Sage Martin and (RV) Corban University’s Robert Swoboda were named the NAIA Cross Country Runners of the week, announced Wednesday by the national office.

On Saturday, both individuals competed at the 48th annual Charles Bowles Willamette Invitational in Salem, Ore., against NAIA and NCAA competition.

Martin led the Yotes to a team victory with her first-place individual finish. The senior from Meridian, Idaho, completed the 5K with a time of 17:17.9 for a new personal record. She competed against a total of 222 collegiate athletes.

Swoboda swept the competition with a fifth-place finish. The graduate student from Ukiah, Calif., completed the 8K with a time of 24:18.1, breaking Corban’s school record by nearly 20 seconds. He raced against a total of 244 collegiate athletes, besting the closest NAIA runner by over 20 seconds.

Both student-athletes will race again on Saturday, October 14th. C of I will host the CCC Championships on November 3rd while the CCC will host the NAIA Championships on November 17th.
