CORVALLIS, Ore. – Currently, Carroll Colleges’ Men’s Soccer team sits atop the Cascade Collegiate Conference standings and was named the Under Armour Team of the Week for Oct. 2 – 8, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
Carroll (6-2-2, 6-1-1 CCC) began its preseason ranked 11th in the CCC Preseason Poll but has quickly displayed its dominant abilities this season. This weekend, the Fighting Saints recorded two back-to-back home wins against Eastern Oregon University and (RV) College of Idaho.
The first victory was over Eastern Oregon on Friday and ended with a final score of 3-1. Felix Billard, Enrico Paparelli, and Sam Loughton all scored in the win for the Saints. They outshot the Mounties by a total of 12-6 and goalkeeper Juan Muniz Navarrette made two saves.
The next day Carroll handed College of Idaho its first conference loss, by a score of 2-1, and now the teams are tied at the top of the conference standings. Paparelli made a goal in the first five minutes for the Saints. Caleb Hoxie scored the game-winner in the 27th minute. Carroll outshot C of I by a total of 14-8 and only allowed one shot on goal.
Up next, Carroll will host Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon on Friday and Saturday in what will be their final home contests of the 2023 season.
