Slater Leads Comeback Victory Over Montana Western

LEWISTON, Idaho - Eastern Oregon women's basketball faced off against the Montana Western Bulldogs for the second game of the Twin Rivers Physical Therapy Classic on Saturday.

Despite trailing by 17 points in the second quarter, the Mounties put together an impressive comeback, winning by a score of 80-78 in overtime. Brie Holecek proved to be clutch once again, scoring a game-winning layup for the second consecutive contest. The Mountaineers now move to 2-0 on the season.

EOU's comeback effort was led by a dominant performance from Senior Beverly Slater, recording 30 points, 21 rebounds, and 3 assists. Slater's 21 rebounds ranks third all-time in the Eastern Oregon record books, just one shy of her career best set last season. Kelsie Siegnera was also an offensive presence for the Mounties with 15 points, while Haley Robinett contributed 16 rebounds.

The Bulldogs were led by a combined effort of Shainy Mack and Jordan Sweeney, scoring 26 and 21 points respectively. Sweeney came close to touching a triple-double, finishing the night with 9 rebounds and 7 assists.

Eastern Oregon will next travel to Caldwell, Idaho on November 18th, set to take on Simpson University at 1:00 p.m. MT.
