Rize Laboratory Players of the Week Announced

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The following four CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the Rize Laboratory Players of the Week for their performances during competition from Nov. 6 – 12, 2023.

Men’s Basketball – Player
Eastern Oregon University’s Garrett Hawkes was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Hawkes, a sophomore guard from Ashton, Idaho, scored 38 points against the No. 3 ranked Arizona Christian University on Friday. This marks the most points scored by a CCC player so far this season. He also shot 66.7% from the field and went 5-for-10 from beyond the arc while grabbing four rebounds along the way.

Women’s Basketball – Player
No. 17-ranked Eastern Oregon University’s Beverly Slater was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Slater, a senior guard from Boise, Idaho, was named MVP of the Twin Rivers Physical Therapy Classic. She recorded 30 points, 21 rebounds, and four assists in a Mountie overtime comeback win over University of Montana Western on Saturday. On the weekend, she averaged 19.5 points, 15.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and two steals while currently leading the NAIA in rebounds per game.

Men’s Wrestling – Wrestler
No. 8-ranked Montana State University-Northern’s NaKoda Siegel was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Wrestler of the Week.

Siegel (174), a redshirt-senior from Montana kicked off his final season with an unbelieve start. He began with a 8-3 decision at Wednesday's dual against University of Providence. At the Grand View Open on Saturday, he was crowned the first-place champion with an undefeated 5-0 record. This included a tech fall, and two sudden victories as Siegel currently ranks second individually in the NAIA.

Women’s Wrestling – Wrestler
(RV) Eastern Oregon University's Liv Wieber was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Wrestler of the Week.

Wieber, a sophomore from Boise, Idaho, ranked No. 13 at 155. On Sunday, she secured a third-place finish at the Mike Clock open. She dominated the tournament, going 5-1 with three tech falls and two pins in under a minute and a half.
