CORVALLIS, Ore. – The following four CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the Rize Laboratory Players of the Week for their performances during competition from Nov. 13 – 19, 2023.
Men's Basketball – Player
Eastern Oregon University's Garrett Hawkes was named the Rize Laboratory Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the second consecutive week.
Hawkes, a sophomore guard from Ashton, Idaho, had another great week for the Mounties. In EOU's Friday victory over Carroll College, he scored 23 points while going 5-for-10 from behind the arc. Against Montana Western on Saturday, he recorded 20 points while making 8-of-16 free throws. On the week, he managed seven rebounds and four steals while playing 60 total minutes.
Women's Basketball – Player
Oregon Tech's Olivia Sprague was named the Rize Laboratory Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
Sprague, a junior guard from Clatskanie, Ore., had another huge weekend, helping the Lady Owls improve to 5-0 on the season. On Friday, she recorded 25 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists in road win against Menlo College. She followed that up on Saturday with 16 points, five rebounds and six steals in their win at California State University Maritime Academy.
Men's Wrestling – Wrestler
(RV) Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Keller Rock was named the Rize Laboratory Men's Wrestler of the Week.
Rock, a 165lbs junior from Chino Valley, Ariz., had an outstanding week, starting with two dual wins on Friday. He won by a 15-7 decision over a Cal Baptist competitor and a first period pin over a Vanguard opponent. On Sunday, he finished fourth at the Roadrunner Open, winning his first match by tech fall and then by pin in his second match before falling in the semifinals. In the consolation bracket, he used a 7-2 decision to defeat last year's national champion and No. 1-ranked Rysan Leong.
Women's Wrestling – Wrestler
No.14-ranked Vanguard University's Lily El-Masri was named the Rize Laboratory Women's Wrestler of the Week.
El-Masri, a sophomore from Novato, Calif., is ranked No. 5 at 170lbs. This weekend she competed at the Missouri Valley Open where she went 4-2 for a fourth-place finish, only falling to NCAA D1 opponents from University of Iowa. Her wins included two pins, a tech-fall, and a sudden victory.
