CALDWELL, Idaho – College of Idaho had three players – Drew Wyman, Johnny Radford and Jake O’Neil – score in double figures on its way to a 79-70 win over Montana Western on Saturday evening.
College of Idaho (5-1) was paced by a career-best 25-point effort from junior Drew Wyman, who hit three 3-pointers and made six of seven free throws. His previous best was 23 against Bushnell on December 31, 2021. O’Neil had 15 points and 10 rebounds for his second double double of the young season. Radford came off the bench to add 17 as he also hit three 3-pointers in the win.
Montana Western was paced by a 21-point game from Jalyn Stepney. He was joined in double digits by a pair of 10-point efforts from Quincy Taylor and Kayden Toldson. The Bulldogs shot a 48.1% clip in the Yotes but were outrebounded by the Yotes, 47-34. College of Idaho had 24 offensive rebounds to just seven for Montana Western.
Down 32-29 at half, the Yotes used a 14-2 run to start the second half to take a 43-34 lead on the Bulldogs. College of Idaho remained in front for the rest of the contest. Montana Western managed to cut it to one, 45-44 with 12:16 left in the game before sophomore guard Samaje Morgan knocked down a 3-pointer to spark a 10-2 run that ended the comeback hopes for the visitors. Five would be as close as the visitors would get on four occasions in the contest.
Next, the rigors of Cascade Collegiate Conference play awaits the Yotes. College of Idaho will travel to Southern Oregon on Friday, Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. (PST)/8:30 p.m. (MT) and Oregon Tech on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 5 p.m. (PST)/6 p.m.(MT)
