LA GRANDE, Ore. - The Eastern Oregon Men's Wrestling team was back in action for the first time in the 2023-24 season. The Mountaineers started 2-0 after taking down the Geoducks of The Evergreen State College by a score of 51- (-)1 and the Warriors of Corban University by a score of 20-19.
EOU vs TESC
Eastern dominated in their first dual of the season securing four match victories by pin. Started off by the number one ranked wrestler in the 125 pound weight class,
Hunter Sparks defeated Sulaiman Nasseri from TESC with a quick pin in 1 minute and 35 seconds. Next it was
Josh Collins who secured a pin against Scott Smisek in the 149-pound division in just 2 minutes and 4 seconds. Then it was
Wylee Lindeen who pinned Justin Pritchard in 3 minutes and 51 seconds in the 174-pound category. Finally, it was EOU all-time pin leader
Kyle Knudtson who secured another pin victory against Julian Kennedy in the 184-pound match, ending the contest in 4 minutes and 24 seconds.

The Mountaineers got off to a hot start in the second dual of the evening. Eastern led 14-0 after taking each of the first three matches of the dual, highlighted by a
Braden Carson pin of Lance Stover in the 133 pound weight division. The Warriors bounced back by taking each of the next four matches to take a lead 16-14 lead.
Kyle Knudtson then regained the lead for the Mountaineers after securing a 10-4 decision victory over Isaiah Twait in the 184-pound match. Then
Jay Smith secured the victory for Eastern in the 197 pound division with a 7-1 decision victory over Tyson Stover.
