CCC Leads 2023 NAIA Women's Cross Country Championship Qualifiers

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The 36 team, 88 individuals in the championship field have been announced for the 44th Annual NAIA Women’s Cross Country National Championship that will be held on November 17, at 10:30 a.m. PT at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Championship Course in Vancouver, Wash., hosted by the Cascade Collegiate Conference.
 
After an outstanding season, the CCC leads the NAIA by sending five total teams, along with two individuals, to the Cross Country Championships. No. 1-ranked College of Idaho earned the CCC’s automatic bid to the national championship after winning the CCC Championship for the fifth consecutive year. No. 7 Southern Oregon University, No. 18 Lewis-Clark State College, and (RV) Eastern Oregon University earned at-large bids. (RV) Oregon Tech received the CCC’s host berth.
 
By finishing in the top 15 at the CCC Championships, The Evergreen State College’s Alauna Carstens and Northwest University’s Kaylea Hartman both qualified as individuals.
 
Qualifier Notes:
  • 2023’s championship will be the eighth that has taken place at Fort Vancouver
  • This year’s field is made up of 24 automatic qualifiers, 11 at-large berths and one host berth. A team may qualify with an automatic berth by winning its conference championship meet or as the runner-up in the championship meet provided the conference has 12 or more schools and the runner-up is rated in the top 30 of the final NAIA Women’s Cross Country rating.
  • The 11, at-large berths were determined by the final NAIA Women’s Cross Country rating and reviewed by the NAIA Women’s Cross Country Championship Oversight Committee.
  • In addition to the team qualifiers, 88 individuals qualified for the championship based on their times throughout the year.
