AUSTIN, Texas – For the second straight season, Oregon Tech had two men's soccer players named to the prestigious College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) NAIA Academic All-America® Team.
Senior defender Ryan Pearson became the Hustlin' Owls first 2-time Academic All-American, earning second-team honors, while junior midfielder Andrew Pasang became Tech's third all-time first-team selection.
Student-athletes are nominated by their institution's sports information director and must be selected (by a panel of SID's) to their respective All-District team to earn a spot on the final ballot. Student-athletes must be at least a sophomore in academic standing, maintain a 3.50 or greater cumulative grade point average, start at least 90-percent of games and earn athletic and academic honors from their respective conference.
The NAIA Academic All-America® program is financially supported by the NAIA national governance structure to assist the CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2023-24 NAIA Academic All-America® teams.
Pearson, who maintains a perfect 4.0 grade point average in Biology-Health Sciences, was a 2022 All-Cascade Conference selection. He started all 19 games in 2023, scoring one goal and assisting on six others and finished his OIT career ranking among the Top-10 in career assists.
Pasang, who maintains a 3.86 grade point average in Medical Imagining Technology, is a 2-time All-CCC selection, including a first-team pick in 2023. He set an OIT school-record with 32 total points in 2023, scoring 12 goals and assisting on eight others.
