Yotes Season Ends in Florida

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - The College of Idaho men's soccer team saw their season come to a close in Florida on Thursday, falling in the first round of the NAIA Championships to Menlo College by a score of 2-1.

The Yotes and Oaks each battled for possession in the first half, but it was Menlo who was able to take advantage of their opportunities, scoring twice in the opening frame which gave them the win. In the 16th minute, Mattia Celant gave the ball to Isak Haukefier who buried the ball in the back of the net which made the game 1-0.

That lead would grow in the 41st minute as Sebastian Lopez was able to dribble through defenders and slide the ball past the Yotes keeper, making the game 2-0 in favor of the Oaks. In the 66th minute, Jorge Fernandez was able to get the Yotes on the board, cutting the Oaks lead into just a single goal, making it a 2-1 game, which would end up as the final score.

The Yotes made it to their first NAIA Championships in 20 years following a CCC Tournament title, and they saw their season end in Florida.
