CORVALLIS, Ore. – The 2022-23 CCC Women’s Basketball Tournament, presented by U. S. Bank, tipped off Tuesday night with the top four teams defending their status.

#1 Eastern Oregon University def. #8 The Evergreen State College, 87-49
Eastern Oregon University rolled to a commanding 87-49 victory over The Evergreen State College. A huge 24-8 first-quarter led allowed Eastern Oregon to set the tone early. At halftime, EOU was leading by 17 points and in the third quarter they shot 64% as a team. The Mountaineers had three players go perfect from the field, including Sailor Liefke who started the game sinking a pair of threes and ended with a total of 17 points. Paris Wilson kept the Geoducks fighting in their last game by making over half her shots while racking up 13 points. Eastern Oregon will host Oregon Tech on Saturday.

#2 Lewis-Clark State College def. #6 Corban University 91-48
Lewis-Clark State College cruised past Corban University by a 91-48 score to be the last Warriors standing. Lewis-Clark State took the momentum right away by sinking the first eight points and was led by Maddie Holm who put together a strong game with 20 points on a 7-for-12 night from the floor. LC State shot 50% from the field and every bench player contributed to the win. Maddie Godwin led Corban with 13 points while Tori Younker grabbed seven rebounds. Lewis-Clark State will host Southern Oregon on Saturday.

#3 Southern Oregon University def. #7 College of Idaho, 77-64
Southern Oregon University eliminated College of Idaho with a score of 77-64. After being eight points behind, Southern Oregon stormed into the fourth quarter by scoring the first 17 points and sealing the teams’ fate. The Raiders forced 29 turnovers, had four players in double digits, and got another double-double from Kami Walk (15 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists). The Coyotes started the game by shooting 48.7% through the first three quarters and were led by Mia Austin who drained a game-high 20 points. Southern Oregon will head on the road to challenge Lewis-Clark State on Saturday.

#4 Oregon Tech def. #5 Bushnell University 67-62
Oregon Tech knocked out Bushnell University with a tight score of 67-62. The Owls struggled to get the ball across half-court early in the second and were held to 26.7% from the field in the period. OIT then opened the fourth with a 10-2 run to take the lead less than three minutes into the quarter and finished by forcing three turnovers in the final 45 seconds of play. Olivia Sprague led all scorers with 16 points, hitting 3-of-5 from beyond the arc while Maddyson Tull and Melissa Lee recorded 14 points apiece. Kalina Rojas opened the fourth quarter with a pair of layups and finished with 14 points to lead the Beacons in scoring.
