CORVALLIS, Ore. –
The following six CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the Rize Laboratory Players of the Week for their performances during competition from March 6 – 12 2023.
Baseball – Player
College of Idaho's Jonah Hultberg was named the Rize Laboratory Baseball Player of the Week.
Hultberg, a junior utility player from Boise, Idaho, led the Coyotes in four victories over Eastern Oregon University with a .625 batting and a 1.000 slugging percentage. He recorded 10 hits in 16 at-bats with two walks and no strikeouts. He tallied a double, a triple, and a home run on his way to 16 total bases and four RBIs.
Baseball – Pitcher
University of British Columbia's Ryan Beitel was named the Rize Laboratory Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Beitel, a sophomore pitcher from Surrey B.C., secured two wins this week for the T-Birds. On Monday, he pitched seven innings in a shutout against Oregon Tech while recording four strikeouts. On Sunday, against Corban University, he tailed seven strikeouts in five innings to lead to the 4-1 victory. Beitel did not allow an earned run to end the week with a perfect ERA.
Softball – Player
Southern Oregon's Riley Donovan was named the Rize Laboratory Softball Player of the Week for the second consecutive week.
Donovan, a senior catcher from Half Moon Bay, Calif., had another great series against Providence University, leading the Raiders to four more wins. She tallied 10 hits in 13 plate appearances, four being doubles and 3 home runs. With a .769 batting average, she also tallied eight runs and 11 RBIs while touching 23 total bases on the week. Behind the plate, she was errorless with 8 total chances.
Softball – Pitcher
University of British Columbia's Shae Sever was named the Rize Laboratory Softball Pitcher of the Week.
Sever, a sophomore pitcher from Richmond, B.C., had three great outings in the circle this week, going 3-0 with a 0.91 ERA. She recorded 16 strikeouts in 15.1 total innings, starting with a victory over Northwest University where she allowed her only two earned runs of the week.
Women's Golf – Golfer
Lewis-Clark State College's Deana Caruso was named the Rize Laboratory Women's Golfer of the Week.
Caruso, a junior from Pomeroy, Wash., put on a show for her spring season opener at the RMC Intercollegiate. She shot a 9-over 81 and was the top finisher for LC State in a tie for 10th against 53 total golfers. She helped the Warrior women tie for third with a 237 total through her three rounds.
Men's Golf – Golfer
Lewis-Clark State College's Jorgen Lie Viken was named the Rize Laboratory Men's Golfer of the Week.
Viken, a senior from Kongsberg, Norway led his team to a 1st place finish, ahead of four ranked teams, at the RMC Intercollegiate. In the Warriors season opener, he shot birdies on Nos. 9 and 11 to finish in fourth place with a 2-under 214. He was one of only five golfers to finish the tournament under par.
