CORVALLIS, Ore. – The final NAIA Learfield Directors’ Cup winter standings were released Thursday, with Southern Oregon University taking over the lead of the Cascade Collegiate Conference.
Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in the NAIA winter championships of men’s and women’s basketball, wrestling, swimming, bowling, indoor track and field, cheer, and dance.
The Raiders maintain 12th place overall with 443.50 total points from the help of the women’s wrestling teams' national championship. Adding to the total includes national championship appearances in men’s and women’s basketball, a T-25 finish in men’s wrestling, and a women’s indoor track All-American.
The Coyotes fell to 15th place overall with 430.90 total points, still maintaining a strong presence thanks to a men’s basketball national title. They also gathered points from men’s and women’s swimming, along with six women's indoor track and field All-Americans.
Two other CCC schools sit in the top 50, with Eastern Oregon University jumping to 18th with 423.00 points from national appearances in men’s and women’s basketball, wrestling, and nine indoor track and field All-Americans. Lewis-Clark State College is holding on to the 49th spot with 252.00 points from women’s basketball making it to the final site, a women’s indoor field national champion, and three indoor track and field All-Americans.
Corban University (63rd, 188.50 points), Oregon Tech (114th, 78.00 points), Warner Pacific University (134th, 57.00 points), Multnomah University (139th, 53.50), and Northwest University (156th, 43.50 points) round out the remaining ranked CCC full member institutions.
The LEARFIELD Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. The spring standings will begin distribution on Tuesday, June 13.
