KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Lewis-Clark State Colleges’ Jorgen Lie Viken was named the NAIA National Men's Golfer of the Week by the national office on Wednesday.
Viken, a senior from Kongsberg, Norway, had a dominant week with back-to-back wins in less than seven days. He began with the LCSC Warrior Spring Invitational title, earning a 7-under total of 209 to win by two strokes. He entered the final round in a tie with teammate, freshman Bryden Brown. Birdies on Nos. 2, 5, and 6 gave Viken the lead while a strong back nine with three more birdies closed out a 4-under 68 and a two-shot victory to take home the individual crown.
He then competed at the UPS Spring Invitational on Sunday where he shot an LC State career-low round of 66 to win the tournament. He carded a 5-under 66 to jump two spots and finish with a two-stroke lead in the 57-person field. He totaled 138 in the two rounds. The week's performances led Viken to be named the second consecutive NAIA men’s golfer of the week from the CCC.
