Rize Laboratory Players of the Week Announced

CORVALLIS, Ore. The following nine CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the Rize Laboratory Players of the Week for their performances during competition from April 10 - 16 2023.
 
Baseball – Player
No. 13 Lewis-Clark State College's Jakob Marquez was named the Rize Laboratory Baseball Player of the Week.
 
Marquez, a sophomore from Santa Clarita, Calif., had a monster weekend to help LC State sweep Eastern Oregon University in their CCC series. He went 9-for-17 (.529) with five extra-base hits. He slugged 1.294 with four home runs and a double, knocked in nine runs and scored seven while touching 22 total bases. Defensively, the first baseman did not commit an error in 39 total chances and was part of four double plays.
 
Baseball – Pitcher
(RV) College of Idaho's Nick Eliason was named the Rize Laboratory Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
 
Eliason, a sophomore left-handed pitcher from Billings, Mont., nearly pitched a complete game for the Coyotes sole series win against Corban University. He allowed just four hits, two runs, and one walk, while recording nine strikeouts in 8.2 innings to lead to the 3-2 victory on the mound for C of I.
 
Softball – Player
No. 5 Southern Oregon University's Cayla Williams was named the Rize Laboratory Softball Player of the Week.
 
Williams, a senior pitcher from San Jose, Calif., led the Raiders all around to a series sweep of Carroll College. At the plate, she went 11-for-14 (.786) without striking out and touched 20 total bases. She recorded a 1.429 slugging percentage with three home runs, nine runs, and 10 RBIs to lead SOU. Williams also got two more wins on the mound while striking out four batters in eight innings.
 
Softball – Pitcher
No. 25 Eastern Oregon University's Kaylie Hoskins was named the Rize Laboratory Softball Pitcher of the Week for the fourth time this season.
 
Hoskins, a sophomore pitcher from Lake Stevens, Wash., got three more wins on the mound in the Mountaineers series sweep of Northwest University. In 15 innings she struck out 28 batters while only allowing one hit and one walk in each game. No runs were scored while she was in the circle to hold a perfect weekend ERA and become EOU's new strikeout leader.
 
Women's Outdoor Track & Field – Track Athlete
Eastern Oregon University Michelle Herbes was named the Rize Laboratory Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
 
Herbes, a graduate student from Union, Ore., had an excellent weekend against strong NCAA Division I competition at the Lewis & Clark Invitational. She set a school record in the 1500 Meter Run posting an "A" Standard time of 4:32.58 while taking third out of 71 competitors.

Women's Outdoor Track & Field – Field Athlete
Eastern Oregon University's Maggie Ledbetter was named the Rize Laboratory Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this Outdoor season.
 
Ledbetter, a graduate student from Cove, Ore., had a monster weekend at the Northwest Nazarene University Open. She became the national leader in the Shot Put with a first place "A" standard mark of 14.57m. She then hit another "A" standard in the Hammer Throw with a mark of 50.55m to finish in second place behind her teammate. She wrapped up her dominant performances with a top place finish and a "B" standard in the Discus with a mark of 42.69m. Both scores also rank in the top 20 nationally.

Men's Outdoor Track & Field – Track Athlete
Multnomah University's Donte Sol was named the Rize Laboratory Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for the second time this Outdoor season.
 
Sol, a sophomore sprinter from Wesley Chapel, Fla., came in first out of 66 other competitors at the Lewis & Clark Invitational on Saturday. In the 100m, he currently ranks 2nd after achieving a time of 10.28.

Men's Outdoor Track & Field – Field Athlete
University of British Columbia's Rowan Hamilton was named the Rize Laboratory Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
 
Hamilton, a junior from Chilliwack, B.C., came out firing in his first event of the season. The reigning NAIA men's hammer throw champion competed in the event at two different meets this week. He surpassed the "A" standard at both with scores of 69.75m and 75.77m, just shy of his personal record. Hamilton currently boasts the top NAIA throw of the season by nearly 12 meters.
 
Women's Golf – Golfer
College of Idaho's Kaylee Jones was named the Rize Laboratory Women's Golfer of the Week.

Jones, a junior from Twin Falls, Idaho, competed as an individual in a dual event against NCAA Dll Northwest Nazarene University. The Nighthawks are in the top 30 in the nation, and she shot a career-best round of 77 to share the first-place title.
