CRESWELL, Ore. – The University of British Columbia and Lewis-Clark State College are tied for first following the opening round of the 2023 Cascade Collegiate Conference Men’s Golf Championship, presented by U.S. Bank.
The Thunderbirds, who are ranked No. 10 in the most recent NAIA Men’s Golf Coaches’ Poll, and the No. 20 Warriors, both shot a 295 (+11) as a team in round one.
The team scores after day one are: (T1) British Columbia 295, (T1) Lewis-Clark State 295, (3) Bushnell 301, (4) Southern Oregon 308, (5) College of Idaho 311, (6) Multnomah 312 (7) Oregon Tech 316, (8) Corban 322, (9) Walla Walla 323.
Jorgen Viken of LC State holds a four-stroke lead, carding a 5-under 66 on the round. Aidan Schumer of UBC is in second after shooting a 1-under 70, while Caden Stubbs of Bushnell is in third (72).
Jackson Muramoto (73) and Benjamin Lovrod (73) are tied for fourth, putting three Beacons among the top 5 on their home course.
Round two will be a shotgun start on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. at the Emerald Valley Golf Club
