Top-Ranked Thunderbirds Lead After Round One

CRESWELL, Ore. – The University of British Columbia finishes round one of the 2023 Cascade Collegiate Conference Women’s Golf Championship, presented by U.S. Bank, with a 25-stroke lead, shooting a 291 as a team at the Emerald Valley Golf Club.
 
Lewis-Clark State College (316), who is receiving votes in the latest NAIA Women’s Golf Coaches’ Poll, is in second, while Oregon Tech (331) sits in third. Corban University (365) is in fourth followed by Southern Oregon (366) in fifth and Walla Walla (402) in sixth.
 
Four members of the Thunderbirds’ squad, the No.1 team in the NAIA, conclude the first round in the top 4. Jessica NG shot a 2-under 70 to lead the 29-competitor field. Sonja Tang is in second (72) and Grace Bell is third (73).
 
Deana Caruso (76) of Lewis-Clark State and Una Chou (76) of UBC are tied for fourth.
 
Round two will be a shotgun start on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.
