Under Armour Co-Teams of the Week Announced

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The University of British Columbias' men’s and women’s Golf teams were named the Under Armour Co-Teams of the Week for April 24 – 30 the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
 
This week, the British Columbia golf teams captured both the tournament and regular season Champion titles at the 2023 Cascade Collegiate Conference Men’s and Women's Golf Championships, presented by U.S. Bank.
 
Wednesday was a nail-biting day for the No.10-ranked men who entered the day with an eight-shot lead. But their Wednesday combined effort of +14 was just enough to cement their third consecutive conference victory with a final score of 884.
 
Mackenzie Bickell was the Day 3 star for the UBC men, as he fired a +1 with four birdies. Bickell finished with the best individual score for UBC at +5 and sole possession of fourth place. Next up was Aidan Schumer who fired a three-round score of +7 and a fifth-place finish. Dylan MacDonald (+14), Hudson LaFayette (+15) and John Paul Kahlert (+15) rounded out the tournament scoring for UBC. Bickell, LaFayette, and MacDonald were all named CCC All-Conference.

The T-Birds will travel to the NAIA Men’s Golf Championship on May 16-19 at the Las Sendas Golf Club in Mesa, Arizona.
 
The No.1-ranked UBC women (+17 total) put an exclamation point on their dominant season with a 289 total, a 65-stroke victory over their next closest competitor to claim their third consecutive title. Individually, Sonja Tang added to her incredible season by adding another individual tournament victory. She fired a three-round total of 215 to finish -1. She was the only contestant on the women's side to score under par and at the conclusion of the event she was named CCC Player of the Year and Tournament Medalist.
 
Next up was Jessica Ng who finished alone in second place at +3 (219) started the tournament with an impressive -2 score during a round that featured seven birdies. Grace Bell was next with a three-round total of +5 (221). Elizabeth Labbe rounded out the top four with a +14. She was even during her Wednesday round. Bo Brown and Una Chou each took turns in the fifth spot for UBC during the three-day tourney. Chou fired rounds of 76 and 74 on Monday and Wednesday, while Brown chimed in with an 81 on Tuesday. Tang, Bell, and Labbe all finished with the top stroke averages in the CCC to be named All-Conference.
 
At the conclusion of the event, UBC assistant coach Keri Moffat received CCC Coach of the Year Honors. The women will head to the NAIA national championship which will take place in Silvis, IL from May 23-26 at TPC Deere Run.
