KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Earlier today, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the Champions of Character® Five-Star Award Winners. Among the recipients were eight Cascade Collegiate Conference institutions, resulting in the CCC receiving the Five-Star Conference recognition.
Each year, NAIA schools use the Champions of Character scorecard to measure the pursuit of character-driven athletics. Northwest University led the prestigious honor as it was named one of the top 27 schools to receive a perfect Champions of Character® scorecard. Bushnell University followed as the other CCC school to reach Gold status.
The Five-Star Silver winners included: College of Idaho, Corban University, Eastern Oregon University, Lewis-Clark State College, Walla Walla University, and Warner Pacific University.
Institutions are measured on a demonstrated commitment to Champions of Character and earn points in character training, conduct in competition, academic focus, character recognition, and character promotion. Institutions earned points based on exceptional student-athlete grade point averages and by having minimal to no ejections during competition throughout the course of the academic year.
