Rize Laboratory Players of the Week Announced

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The following five CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the Rize Laboratory Players of the Week for their performances during competition from Aug. 14-20, 2023.
 
Women's Soccer – Defensive Player
Corban University's Catriona Burns was named the Rize Laboratory Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Burns, a junior goalkeeper from Linlithgow, U.K., Allowed just a single 79th minutes goal to the No. 9-ranked Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in a 1-0 loss Sunday night where she registered 5 saves over a complete game played.
 
Women's Soccer – Offensive Player
Corban University's Fatima Jimenez was named the Rize Laboratory Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Jimenez, a senior forward from Salem, Ore., scored the lone goal of the Warriors' season-opener this weekend against Arizona Cristian University in the 66th minute.  
 
Volleyball – Attacker
Lewis-Clark State College's Juliauna Forgach Aguilar was named the Rize Laboratory Volleyball Attacker of the Week.
 
Forgach Aguilar, a sophomore outside hitter from Morenci, Ariz., matched a career-high with 12 kills against Walla Walla before nearly doubling the total the next night with 23 kills against a talented Montana Western team. She was efficient with just eight errors on 35 kills in 77 attempts for a .351 attack percentage, while also adding six service aces and 10 digs.
 
Volleyball – Defender
Bushnell University's Bella Parque was named the Rize Laboratory Volleyball Defender of the Week.
 
Parque, a junior Defensive Specialist from Puyallup, Wash., broke Bushnell's single-match record for digs with 40 total against (RV) Rocky Mountain College. She also posted four aces against RMC, and her weekend featured 6.13 digs per set.
 
Volleyball – Setter
Eastern Oregon University's Alexis McMurtrey was named the Rize Laboratory Volleyball Setter of the Week.
 
McMurtrey, a junior setter from Idaho Falls, Idaho, tallied 82 assists across 4 matches, leading the Mountaineers through an undefeated weekend. She started off the Big Sky Challenge with a 28-assist performance against the No. 18 ranked College of Saint Mary. She ended the weekend recording 21 assists in just three sets against Montana State University-Northern, where the Mountaineers recorded a hitting percentage of .294 thanks to McMurtrey's dominant play.
