Rize Laboratory Players of the Week Announced

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The following seven CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the Rize Laboratory Players of the Week for their performances during competition from Aug. 21-27, 2023.
 
Men’s Soccer – Defensive Player
Carroll College’s Juan Muniz Navarrette was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Navarrette, a sophomore goalkeeper from Hermiston, Ore., was the backbone of the Fighting Saints in a 0-0 draw at NCAA Division III Whitworth University. He posted a shutout that included five saves in his first start at Carroll.
 
Men’s Soccer – Offensive Player
Bushnell University’s Alejandro Munoz was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Munoz, a sophomore midfielder from West Valley City, Utah, scored two goals and recorded two assists as the Beacons went 2-0 in their opening games of the 2023 season. He assisted on the game-winning goal against Simpson University to secure the 3-2 victory. In Bushnell’s next win over George Fox University, he assisted on an early goal before scoring the game-winner with a top-shelf free-kick from 22 yards out. Munoz went on to score a late insurance goal on a PK to seal the 4-2 defeat.

Women’s Soccer – Defensive Player
Southern Oregon University’s Ashlynn Hernandez was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Hernandez, a junior goalkeeper from Roseville, Calif., has yet to allow a goal this season after registering two more shutouts this week. This included a 1-0 upset over No. 9-ranked Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in which she totaled a career-high nine saves. In the other victory over Jessup University, she recorded six saves to end the week with a total of 15 overall.

Women’s Soccer – Offensive Player
Eastern Oregon University’s Kana Mateaki was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Kana Mateaki, a senior forward from Anchorage, Alaska, scored two goals and had one assist during the Mountaineer's weekend slate. She was an offensive force, striking whenever provided an opportunity to lead Eastern Oregon to a 3-1 victory over Milligan University. EOU has yet to lose this season as they went on to tie with Tennessee Wesleyan University.
 
Volleyball – Attacker
Corban University’s Rylee Troutman was named the Rize Laboratory Volleyball Attacker of the Week.

Troutman, a junior outside hitter from Powell Butte, Ore., showed out at the Midland Showdown among four NAIA Top 10 teams this week. She logged double-digit kill counts (16.75 kills/game) in every contest with the game-high mark in every match to average an incredible .306 kill percentage. She added 28 digs in the backcourt, three blocks, and a pair of service aces to lead the Warriors to three more wins.
 
Volleyball – Defender
Eastern Oregon University’s Mylie Mills was named the Rize Laboratory Volleyball Defender of the Week.
 
Mills, a freshman middle hitter from Boise, Idaho, recorded 2.38 blocks per set and three digs in route to Eastern Oregon's undefeated weekend. She also tallied 12 kills and an .290 kill percentage in the Mountaineers three wins at the Magic Island Hawaii Classic.
 
Volleyball – Setter
Corban University’s Abby Guindy was named the Rize Laboratory Volleyball Setter of the Week.

Guindy, a sophomore setter from San Jose, Calif., recorded a pair of double-doubles, highlighted by a 93-assist weekend against premiere NAIA Top 10 programs. She also tallied 30 digs in the backcourt and averaged 23.25 assists per match to help lead the Warriors to a 3-1 weekend at the Midland Showdown.
