FOREST GROVE, Ore. – The Geoducks kicked off their second match of the season against the Pacific University Boxers. In a tightly contested match that came down to the wire, the Boxers (1-0) found the back of the net in the 84
th minute to defeat Evergreen (0-2).
Aside from the lone goal, both teams were almost identical on the stat sheet. 11 shots and four shots on goal for both teams.
Andreas Malunat, Jesus Flores, Alec Zimmerman and Emmanuel Nicasio accounted for all four of the Geoduck's shots on goal.
An early season showdown of two evenly matched teams resulted in a defensive battle that resulted in a scoreless contest for most of the match. Evergreen and Pacific had their fair share of opportunities but neither team could capitalize and score what would be the game-winning goal until the 84
th minute when the Boxers managed to sneak one though.
The Geoducks will shake off the loss and use this experience to prepare for their next contest, a road scrimmage against Skagit Valley College on September 2, at 2 p.m. More information available at gogeoducks.com.
