Raiders take 1st loss at Hope International

IRVINE, Calif. – Southern Oregon keeper Ashlynn Hernandez made 10 first-half saves to keep Hope International (Calif.) off the board before the Royals snuck a couple by in the second, winning 2-0 Wednesday night at Orange County Great Park.

Christiane Sundstrom scored both goals, taking assists from Lauren Lizarraga in the 53rd minute and Sarah Ralston in the 73rd. The graduate transfer got off 10 shots and her team logged 36.

The setback snapped a three-game winning streak for the Raiders (3-1). The Royals, picked to finish second in the Golden State Athletic Conference, moved to 3-1.

Hernandez finished with a career-high 13 saves. She made 30 over four games before giving up her first goal of the season.

Tatum Curtis and Malaika Quigley were responsible for SOU's two shots on target.

The Raiders continue their non-conference slate at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Vanguard (Calif.).
