College of Idaho Women's Cross Country Wins Dr. Scholes XC Classic

TWIN FALLS, Idaho – The College of Idaho women’s cross country, who were ranked No. 3 in the NAIA Women’s Cross Country Preseason Poll and are the favorites in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, began the 2023 season with a win at the Dr. Scholes Classic hosted by the College of Southern Idaho.
 
The first runner across the finish line and taking home the individual title was junior Sage Martin, who covered the 5k course in 17:54.27. For Martin, it is a personal best, just under her previous PR of 17:55.0.
 
10 seconds behind Martin was teammate senior Abbey Shirts, who crossed the in 18:04. The duo was followed by teammates, juniors Ellyse Tingelstad and Kahea Figueira, who finished in 18:11.2 and 18:20.1, respectively as College of Idaho swept the top four finishers.

The fifth runner for College of Idaho was freshman Kylee Quinton, who was eighth in her debut in a time of 19:19.7. Teammates junior Molly Connor and freshman Julia Gilbert were ninth (19:20.0) and 10th (19:26.5), respectively.

Next, College of Idaho will host the CCC Preview Meet at the Caldwell Golf Course on Friday, Sept. 15.
