KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Mackenzie Bickell topped British Columbia teammate Dylan MacDonald in a playoff to earn medalist honors, as T-Birds went wire-to-wire to win the 2023 Oregon Tech Fall Invitational at Running Y Ranch Resort.
UBC (282-278-281 – 841) claimed a 37-stroke victory over host Oregon Tech (292-297-282 – 878), as the Owls erased a 10-stroke deficit heading into the final round to top third-place Southern Oregon (297-289-298 – 884).
Bickell (66-71-70 – 207) had a chance to win the tournament in regulation, but missed a par putt on the 18th hole, allowing MacDonald (70-67-70 – 207) to finish tied at 9-under-par. The duo replayed the par-4 18th hole, with MacDonald hitting a shot into the hazard, allowing Bickell to par the hole to earn the win.
The Hustlin' Owls made a big Tuesday charge, as the 6-under-par team score ranked fourth all-time in program history and the top OIT mark since the 2017-18 season.
Both Xavier De La Rosa (73-72-70 – 215) and Hunter Eberhardt (74-68-73 – 215) tied for fifth-place at 1-under-par, while freshman Tyce Helmick (73-77-71 – 221) finished tenth. Fellow frosh, Kade Bracken (71-79-70 – 220) tied for the overall low round of the day, vaulting into 20th-place.
SOU capped their best tournament finish in program history with another solid performance from Mason Lebow (72-66-74), who placed fourth overall.
Lewis-Clark State (294-303-300 - 897) and College of Idaho (299-306-301 - 906) rounded out the Top-5.
The next CCC Golf event will be hosted by Corban on Sept. 25-26 at
Pine Ridge Golf Club.
