Caldwell, Idaho – The College of Idaho men’s and women’s cross country teams and Fairview Golf Course served as the host to the 2023 Cascade Collegiate Conference Preview Meet on Friday morning.
The No. 3 ranked College of Idaho swept the top three places – first by Ellyse Tingelstad, second by Sage Martin and third by Abbey Shirts – in the 4k race with 10 seconds separating them. Tingelstad was the first to the finish line in 13:53.5, followed by Martin in 13:58 and Shirts in 14:03.5.
The top runner for Eastern Oregon was Riley Morris, who covered the course in 14:57.1 to lead the Mountaineers.
Also for College of Idaho was Kahea Figueira, who was seventh in 14:43.2 and Julia Gilbert in 11
th in 15:04.8.
As a team, College of Idaho won the team race with a score of 24 ahead of College of Southern Idaho (39), Northwest Nazarene (75) and Eastern Oregon (105).
The College of Idaho men, who are No. 6 in the NAIA preseason poll, also took home the team title. Braden Heath led the Yotes with a runner-up finish in the 6k in 18:44.0. Brody Kemble of NNU was the individual winner in 18:25.5.
With the performance by Heath, the College of Idaho was led by its third and fourth place finish by Elias Everist (18:47.4) and Daniel Butler (18:49.9), respectively.
The fourth runner and sixth overall was Will Kracaw, who crossed the line in 18:52.8. The fifth runner for College of Idaho and ninth overall was Hayden Bostrom in 19:03.7.
With five runners in the top nine, College of Idaho scored 24 points to take the team title. Behind College of Idaho was College of Southern Idaho with 47, NNU with 57, CCC members Bushnell with 129 and Walla Walla with 136.
