Rize Laboratory Players of the Week Announced

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The following eleven CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the Rize Laboratory Players of the Week for their performances during competition from Sept. 11 – 17, 2023.

Men's Golf – Golfer
No. 2 University of British Columbia's Mackenzie Bickell was named the Rize Laboratory Men's Golfer of the Week.
 
Bickell (66-71-70 – 207), a junior from Richmond, B.C., topped British Columbia teammate in a playoff to earn individual medalist honors. The T-Birds claimed a 37-stroke victory to win the 2023 Oregon Tech Fall Invitational at Running Y Ranch Resort, a 72 course par.

Women's Golf – Golfer
No. 1 University of British Columbia's Una Chou was named the Rize Laboratory Women's Golfer of the Week.

Chou (75-66 – 141), a junior from San Diego, Calif., erased a 2-stroke deficit after Round 1 with six birdies and an eagle on the par-5 second hole, finishing two strokes ahead of her teammate. Chou broke the Cascade Conference single-round scoring record with a 6-under-par 66, earning medalist honors in helping British Columbia win the 2023 Oregon Tech Fall Invitational at Running Y Ranch Resort, a 72 course par.

Men's Cross Country – Runner
Corban University's Robert Swoboda was named the Rize Laboratory Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week.
 
Swoboda, a graduate student from Ukiah, Calif., competed at the Oak Knoll Loop Run against several NCAA opponents. He placed first overall in the 8K with a time of 25:01.7 with a total of 65 runners.

Women's Cross Country – Runner
No. 3 College of Idaho's Ellyse Tingelstad was named the Rize Laboratory Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week.

Tingelstad, a senior from Joseph Ore., led the Yotes to a team title in the CCC Preview Meet in Caldwell, Idaho. She finished first overall in the 4K against 50 other runners with a time of 13:53.5.

Men's Soccer – Defensive Player
(RV) Southern Oregon University's Casey Ruvolo was named the Rize Laboratory Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Ruvolo, a sophomore goalkeeper from New River, Ariz., established a new career-high with eight saves Friday against Warner Pacific University to lead to a 2-0 victory. He then collected six more saves on Saturday in the second shutout against Multnomah University, helping the Raiders to a 2-0 weekend to open the conference season.

Men's Soccer – Offensive Player
Carroll College's Michal Mojzis was named the Rize Laboratory Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Mojzis, a junior midfielder from Bratislava, Slovakia, was instrumental in Carroll's two CCC opening wins this weekend. He had two game-winning goals, one in a 3-0 win over Walla Walla University, and another in Sunday's 2-0 win over Rocky Mountain College. In addition, Mojzis also tallied an assist against the Wolves.

Women's Soccer – Defensive Player
(RV) Eastern Oregon University's Darby McDevitt was named the Rize Laboratory Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
 
McDevitt, a senior midfielder from Rathdrum, Idaho, was instrumental in the Mountaineer's defensive efforts this weekend, allowing 0 goals across two games. EOU drew with Northwest University and defeated The Evergreen State College (9-0). In addition to her defensive efforts, she also scored a goal against the Geoducks.

Women's Soccer – Offensive Player
Carroll College's Emily Funseth was named the Rize Laboratory Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.

Funseth, a senior forward from Great Falls, Mont., completed a hat trick in Carroll's CCC opener against Rocky Mountain College on Sunday. Her three goals on five shots provided more than enough firepower in the 3-1 win, helping the Fighting Saints remain undefeated this season.
 
Volleyball – Attacker
Northwest University's Kaitlyn Mickle was named the Rize Laboratory Volleyball Attacker of the Week for the second time this season.

Mickle, a sophomore outside hitter from Fullerton, Calif., led the Eagles in scoring at both weekend matches. She had 20 kills in a large upset over No. 1 ranked Eastern Oregon University. She followed that with 19 kills the next night against College of Idaho in a tight five-set match. Mickle ranks of the top five in kills in the CCC.
 
Volleyball – Defender

Bushnell University's Bella Parque was named the Rize Laboratory Volleyball Defender of the Week for the second time this season.
 
Parque, a junior defensive specialist from Puyallup, Wash., had a big weekend, leading the Beacons on defense as they won twice more against Walla Walla University and Lewis-Clark State College. She recorded three service aces against the Wolves and 17 digs in each matchup. She ranks No. 1 in the CCC in digs and No. 2 in the CCC in service aces. The Beacons now share second place in the Cascade Collegiate Conference standings.
 
Volleyball – Setter
College of Idaho's Analise Hitchcock was named the Rize Laboratory Volleyball Setter of the Week.

Hitchcock, a senior setter from Boise, Idaho, averaged 6.00 assists per set in the Yotes two wins over The Evergreen State College and Northwest University. She completed the weekend with a total of 48 assists, 13 digs, four service aces, and a block. C of I now shares a third place standing in the CCC.
